Our Council
Father Ragan Council No. 3269 is a fellowship of Catholic men from parishes in northeast Lorain County, including Avon, Avon Lake, and Sheffield. Living out the four principles of the Knights of Columbus – Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism – since 1950.

Our Mission
Founded in 1882 by Blessed Michael McGivney, the Knights of Columbus stand on four principles.
The Father Ragan Council lives them out at the parish level, week in and week out.

Fundraisers, Donation Drives & Activities
Father Ragan Council holds fundraisers and community donation drives to support impactful programs including:
– The annual youth scholarship awards, tuition assistance, and the Coats for Kids® program.
– Our annual Measure Up Campaign to raise funds for those with developmental disabilities.
– Much needed funds to supplement tuition costs for our local seminarians.
Our council also:
– Administers the Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest
– Hosts the Annual Family Picnic and other family activities
– Sponsors blood drives and our local Free Throw Championship
Father Ragan Charitable Foundation
The foundation provides scholarships to deserving high school and college students in our local community. To qualify for the scholarship, each applicant must attend a Catholic-based high school or attend a post-high school learning institution. A third-degree Knight from the council or a widow of a third-degree Knight must sponsor the applicant.
Beyond this, the Father Ragan Charitable Foundation extends its support to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations, lending a helping hand to various causes. By making these contributions, the foundation plays a crucial role in uplifting and assisting organizations that work towards bettering society.
About Father Michael. S. Ragan
Rev. Michael S. Ragan was ordained in 1936 for the Diocese of Cleveland and entered the Chaplain Corps in 1941.
Father Ragan was assigned to the 91st Bombardment Group, US Army Air Forces, England, during World War II.
He received the Bronze Star Medal in 1945 for “unselfish devotion to duty which has contributed a great deal to high morale.”
After the war, he served as Veterans Hospital Chaplain, and was an assistant at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Avon.
Council No. 3269, established on January 15, 1950, named the Council for Father Ragan following his tragic death in an auto accident on August 17, 1949.
