FAITH, FAMILY, FRATERNITY

Put your Catholic faith into action today.

MEN WHO STEP INTO THE BREACH

“And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land…” – Ezekiel 22:30

Our world today

…needs men to become great men. Great Catholic men. Great husbands. Great fathers. You don’t have to step into the breech alone.

Catholic fraternity among men dramatically impacts your life of faith.

Men who have bonds of brotherhood with other Catholic men pray more, go to Mass and Confession more frequently, read the Scriptures more often, and are more active in the Faith.

As a member of the Knights of Columbus, you can grow in faith, serve your family and help your community alongside other Catholic men.

Four pillars, one fraternity

Founded in 1882 by Blessed Michael McGivney, the Knights of Columbus stand on four principles.

The Father Ragan Council lives them out at the parish level, week in and week out.

Charity

We find Christ in our neighbor and are changed by each encounter. “Where there’s a need, there’s a Knight.”

Unity

United in faith as members of the universal Church, our diverse brotherhood builds up the Body of Christ.

Fraternity

We seek Christ-centered brotherhood, encouraging one another to grow in holiness and virtue.

Patriotism

We strive to be faithful citizens, bearing witness to the true freedom that comes from pursuing lives of truth, justice, solidarity and above all, charity.

WHO ARE WE?

Established on January 15, 1950, Father Ragan Council No. 3269 has a long and proud tradition of service in Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield, and the surrounding communities.

We help Catholic men become better husbands, better fathers and better men.

Most of our activity flows through the Avon Catholic Community (Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parishes), St. Joseph and Holy Spirit Parishes in Avon Lake, and St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Sheffield Village.

When a parish has a need, the Knights are there: in the kitchen, out on the sidewalk, and alongside our young people.

What are the Knights of Columbus?
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic global fraternity and the world’s premier lay Catholic men’s organization, with 2+ million brothers in 17 countries. Founded in 1882 by Father Michael McGivney, members support their parish and local community through charity, service projects, and mutual aid.
Who can join Father Ragan Council No. 3269?
Practicing Catholic men, 18 and over, in communion with the Holy See, are eligible to join. We primarily serve at parishes located in Avon, Avon Lake, and Sheffield.
I don’t consider myself a “good enough” Catholic. Can I still join?

Yes. You simply need to be a practicing Catholic who is 18 or over. We definitely don’t ask for perfection or require a theology degree. Councils are built for men growing at every stage of their faith.

How do I become a Knights of Columbus member?

The general process is to submit a membership application either online or with our Membership Director and then attend an Exemplification ceremony.

What is a Knights of Columbus Exemplification?
The Knights of Columbus Exemplification is a ceremony that initiates new members, emphasizing the core principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. This ceremony allows the First, Second, and Third Degrees to be conferred in a single event in a church (or hall), and witnessed by family and friends. There is no element of secrecy.
What does membership cost?

Annual membership dues are $38. Your dues fund three priorities: keeping the council running, funding our charitable work, and supporting the national (Supreme) organization.

Why is your council named “Father Ragan”?
Father Michael Ragan was a decorated Army Chaplain who was stationed in England during World War II. After the war, he served at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception parish in Avon until his untimely death in an auto accident in 1949. The Knights named Council No. 3269 in his honor when it was established in 1950.
Who is the Grand Knight of Father Ragan Council No. 3269?

Mike Jaworski is the current Grand Knight of Father Ragan Council No. 3269. You can view all our current elected Officers and Appointees HERE.

When and where does Father Ragan Council No. 3269 meet?
Council business meetings take place on the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Social meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. All meetings are at Father Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Rd, Avon.
